Hello! On this blog I am going to be sharing everything that I do during the school year that is under the subjects math, language arts, science, and social studies.

MATH
For this week in math, I have been going through a book called Life of Fred. In Life of Fred, you read a story and the story is separated into chapters. In each chapter, you learn about something different in the subject of math. Then, at the end of the chapter, it asks you questions about what you just learned and what you've learned in all the previous chapters.
What I like about Life of Fred is, along with learning lots of math, there is also lots of little fun facts that you learn as you read, for example: there's little history facts, what a gibbous moon is, a little science here and there, all sorts of little things. But I think the thing that I like most about it is that it packs all that stuff into a story to make it fun to learn math. I really enjoy reading a fun story and learning at the same time.
I also created shapes with our Magnatiles (magnetic tiles that you build with) and did volume, area, radius, diameter, and circumference.
LANGUAGE ARTS
In language arts, (I'm going to say LA for short) I have been going through an LA assignment book. It is divided into lessons and in each lesson it gives me up to about four assignments to complete. Sometimes I have to read a chapter in one of the two books it came with and then answer questions about the chapter, sometimes I write paragraphs or stories, lots of things.
I enjoy it because I think the assignments are fun, but I also have always liked LA.
SCIENCE
For science, I learned about birds, specifically flamingos and scarlet macaws. I read books and then drew a diagram of a scarlet macaw skull, wrote a paragraph and made a game about scarlet macaws that I played with my mom and my sister.
In the game I read the paragraph and then read questions off of cards and if my mom or sister answered correctly then they would get to flip over one of the puzzle pieces I made. If they didn't, they didn't get to flip a puzzle piece over. After all the puzzle pieces were turned over, they put the puzzle together.
SOCIAL STUDIES
For social studies, I have been going through an audio book called Story of the World. I listen to a few chapters, and then my mom and I go through questions about the things in the chapter. Right now we are currently learning about Egypt. One activity said to mummify an actual chicken! We couldn't do it though because the only chicken we had was one that we were having for dinner.
I enjoy doing Story of the World because I get to listen to a story and one of my favorite ways to learn is to listen to or read a book.
